When something exciting or important happens in our life we want to share it with as many people as we can. Our faith is something exciting and important, and we should share that with as many people as we can. Evangelization is a word we used to describe sharing our faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
All Christians are called to evangelize. Jesus commissioned the disciples, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:18-19). The last command Jesus gave his disciples before he ascended was, “Go into the whole word and proclaim the Gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). The Church exists to evangelize. This is not just the job of priest and religious, but of all Christians.
Simply put, evangelization is proclaiming the good news of Jesus to all those around us. We evangelize with our words and with our actions.
