While the Catholic Church is the largest in the religion in the world, it is sometimes also the most misunderstood. The Catholic faith is an ancient faith, deeply rooted in the teachings and traditions of Christ. It is a faith filled with hope as we continue to spread the Good News to the world.
The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a process for initiating new members into the Catholic Church. Even though OCIA is a process for new members, ALL ARE WELCOME! Through OCIA, we study and explore the Catholic faith, so those who are already members of the Catholic Church are encouraged to join us and continue to explore the faith.
While the program is geared toward adults, children may also join the program. In addition to candidates who have never been baptized, adults and children who were baptized in another Christian faith may also join OCIA to prepare for the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist to be fully received into the Catholic Church.
OCIA is a journey that takes several months to complete. The program is broken into the following parts: Pre-Catechumenate, Rite of Initiation, Catechumenate, Rite of Election, Sacraments of Initiation, and Mystagogy.
